July 16th - Chevron's Baby Shower

On July 16th, my office organized a surprise baby shower. They really got me good, because I did not expected it all. I shower-up with my note book, agenda, and several business points I was really to share..... you should have seen my face of shock when I saw everyone gathered around cake and Ice cream .... they all shared some good laughs recounting how hard it was to set-up everything behind my back and at the same time how easy it was to get me focused on a "bussiness meeting" that didn't exist to be able to get away with it.

June 27th - Baby Shower Next Door

Well ... as usual we are a bit behind on our blog entries ... but here is to try to catch-up a little.

On June 27th we had the coolest baby shower ever. Neither Neil or I have enjoyed baby showers in the past and faithfully made a point in avoiding them (All the comments on our potential for parenthood and what we were missing were just a bit too much to take). But now it was our turn and our next door neighbors Vicky and Steve really wanted to take the opportunity to get our friends together and have a good time. Here are a few pictures of all the fun:
Instead of the traditional "sweets bonanza", we had several Brazilian finger foods, mimosas (they kept me at Sprite as my hard drink) and a delicious chocolate cake.
We played TP the belly to guess the size (Neil came in the closest, but he did not count because he had insider trading information),
There was an award for the heaviest purse weight (I was relieved when I realized the scale was not for me),
Guess the number of M&Ms in the bottle (which turned out to be a practical joke between Steve and the other male guests).
and guess the chocolate bar in the messy diapers (yes I tasted them because I cuold not tell what it was by just looking).
Neil and I were blown away by everyone's generosity and love. One friend travel 2 1/2hrs to participate (Terry), another came into town from a bussiness assignment and turned back arround the same day (Nicki) and so many others came from all over town just to be there.... here are just a few pictures.
We trully had a great time!

Cute Pregnant Girl!!

We haven't taken many pictures of Raquel since she's been pregnant, so we thought we should take some. After work today we went out into the garden and took some pictures with her flowers. Below are some pictures of my flower with her flowers.

Isn't she beautiful?

MBA Graduation!

On Friday May 15th, we got to celebrate Neil's 3 year "Masters in Business Administration" journey at the University of Houston Bauer College of Business. It was a well deserved celebration - Neil has As in all his classes (3.9 GPA). He has one more class to go this summer ... but the school allowed him to graduate with his classmates.
Old memories of ROTC and the military ....Here he comes!
Look at this big smile! He was very happy After the graduation the school provided cake and punch for a graduation reception.
I got to meet some of Neil's classmates. From left to right Anita, Jonah and Chuck. I got to hear a lot about Chuck through the years. Neil met Chuck at the first orientation meeting and they were together in classes and project groups for 2/3rds of the program. At the end of the reception, each student got to sign a copy of the autobiograpy of C.T. Bauer. Back in 2000 Mr. Bauer donated a very large sum of funds to the business school which propelled the business program into a nationally recognized and respected program.I am very proud of my dear one.
Our baby better watch out! Daddy is a very smart master in business and she will not get away with any "funny business" around him!

Aunt Amy went all out

When we came home from work earlier this week we found a big surprise on the doorstep. There was a box from Amy and John. Aunt Amy and cousin Grace went all out!!! The box was filled with beautiful baby clothes! Raquel couldn't stop cooing and ahhing for quite a while as she looked at each piece.
Thanks Amy for the thoughtful gift. Thanks Grace for sharing. Our little girl is getting so spoiled already and she isn't even here yet. God is so good and we are so thankful for our loving family. Thanks again Amy and John!!

Look What I found

This is the scene that presented itself to me when I came in from cutting the grass this morning. Raquel had laid out all of the baby cloths that Amy sent and even dressed up her stuffed elephant like he'd just taken his bath. She was so excited about it she called her sister long distance to talk all about it.

We Love Spring

Spring is a nice time in Houston. At least in the mornings before the sun gets high in the sky.
